Things to do in the Forest of Dean, Symonds Yat and Wye Valley

Get outside
For things to do, Symonds Yat West is all about outdoor activities and enjoying the nature on your doorstep. Pull on your walking boots and follow any number of public footpaths into the hillside or alongside the river. Or jump on your bike and cycle through the forest or follow the National Cycle Route 423, which passes Tivoli.
You can enjoy all the river has to offer with a variety of water sports available within walking distance of the property, including canoeing and paddle boarding. Cross the river and visit the famous Yat Rock.
Children will enjoy the Butterfly Zoo, hedge puzzle and crazy golf, which are all a few minutes walk away.

The River Wye & Forest of Dean
Tivoli is located within the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Fabulous landscapes are all around. Enjoy day trips to Ross on Wye or Monmouth or visit Tintern Abbey which is not far for a great day out and all situated on the River Wye.
The Forest of Dean offers no end of cycle routes suitable for all levels, with a family forest trail, or you could visit the Sculpture trail at Beechenhurst or take in Clearwell Caves or the Dean Forest Railway.

Canoeing
No trip to Symonds Yat is complete without canoeing and paddle boarding. The office of Wye Adventures and the Paddocks Hotel are both a short walk from Tivoli which form a gathering point for canoeing trips. The companies drive you up river in a minibus to perhaps Ross on Wye or Kerne Bridge and you canoe back to base.
Free access to the River Wye is provided at Kerne Bridge should you travel independently and have your own canoe or paddle board. Parking charges apply.
Yat Rock
Yat Rock forms a focal point for visitors. Parking and a cafe are available. The hand-pull ferry situated a 10 minute walk away can get you across the river towards Yat Rock and the spectacular views of the Wye Valley, or you can walk to the Biblins footbridge and cross the river on foot. Don't forget to look out for peregrine falcons in the summer.
